Kolkata’s new pet friendly cafe:The love room.

It is not everyday that you come across a pet friendly cafe that too in city which is yet to construe the phase ‘pet friendliness’ in its true sense. The idea of pet cafes mostly originated in America and japan and India to be honest has just given in to the pet friendly initiative with just a handful of pet friendly cafes around the country.

The love room is the contrivance of two fervent pet lovers Shruti and Ankush. The cafe is the first of its kind in Kolkata and houses several dogs and cats. So you really need not bring your pets along always, you can just give these fur babies a cuddle.
The cafe includes separate play areas for dogs and cats which are fenced away from the dining areas.

Any cafe in this city regardless of its genre is deemed good and bad by its food.
The love room has a specially crafted menu for their guests, and by guests I mean both you and your pet. The furbaby menu includes options for a three course meals from entree to dessert!

Dog beer. Yeah, you are reading it right.

The cafe menu is equally well crafted and beautifully compacted with  a lot of varieties to chose from.

A few highlights of the menu are:

Melon and watermelon salad: This is one brilliant creation which clearly stands out as The Love Room signature. This salad is a blissful blend of mask and watermelon marinated in extra virgin olive oil and balsamic reduction with additions of pomegranate, feta and rocket leaves. Perfect for Indian summers.

A melony affair.

Chicken wings: The wings here come in two options, one with BBQ marination and the other with a tangy sauce. Both the preparations have very distinct flavors with a hint of sweetness in the BBQ  while the tangy sauce has a fiery finish to it.If you ask me I am a teeny weeny bit partial towards the BBQ wings.

Harissa grilled fish: Now this is a dish I have really taken a liking for. The Harissa adds a smoky spice which enhances the flavor of the grilled fish. Served on a bed of mashed potato and grilled veggies this composition is quite a mouthful of. The mashed potato though is a bit different from the usual, cannot say if it is a bad or good different because it compliments the dish pretty well.

Before I move on to desserts I need to take a special mention of mocktails. The ginger and peach mocktail simply numbed my senses after the first sip. Yes, it is that good. This brilliant concoction of orange juice, ginger and peach syrup is on the top of my recommendation list!

Finally, the dessert.
Classic waffle with Nutella topping: My love for waffles is probably a common news now.
To me waffles are like sirens who tempt me into sinful indulgences.
Waffle+Nutella, need I say any more? No, briefing needed just indulge.
Did I forget the strawberries?
