Living nature’s way

In today’s world of growing health disorders taking measures for a salubrious life has become impervious. Small changes lead to a revolution. Similarly tiny healthy steps culminate into a healthy lifestyle.
Sugar, is one of the prime necessities for sustenance. In a household like mine use of sugar in daily lifestyle is mandatory. But in order to upgrade to a healthier version of life we have been trying to cut down on sugar. The hunt for a healthier and natural alternative is also in progress.
I have tried using a few natural sweeteners in order to compensate for the daily sugar intake.
Recently I was sent complimentary sachets of Sviten Natural Sweeteners as a part of FBCI product review series. I tried using it to make a dessert with mangoes. I whipped up some baked mango custard using sviten. The result was as good as it is with normal sugar. Calorie free and natural.

I also use it in my morning  teas and drinks to add sweetness to them. They work perfectly fine. Although overuse of it might result in a bitter aftertaste because you do not need much of it to sweeten your food. Of course it cannot guarantee you the taste of natural sugar else it would not be a healthier option would it?

Also here is a quick recipe of the baked mango custard I made using sviten.
Remember not to add too much of it for more sweetness!

Here’s what you will need:

  • 2 ripe mangoes, pitted and chopped
  • 3 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 7 sachets of sviten
  • 1/2 cup evaporated or condensed milk
  • 1teaspoon vanilla extract

Here’s what you need to do:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Puree the chopped mangoes in a blender or food processor.
Beat the eggs in a medium bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed until the eggs are frothy. Gradually beat in the sugar substitute. Slowly beat in the evaporated milk, mango puree, and vanilla.
Pour the custard into 6 custard cups or ramekins. Place the custard cups in a shallow roasting pan or baking dish. Add hot water to a depth of 1-inch and bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Insert a knife into the custard to make sure it comes out clean.
Take the cups out of the water and let it cool.
Garnish it with chopped mangoes and you are all set.
