“Food in the end, in our own tradition, is something holy. It is not about nutrients and      calories. It is about sharing. It is about honesty. It is about identity.” ~ Louise Fresco

As far as history goes, Kolkata has always spread its arms wide to embrace the best of anything new. Of late, the city has succumbed to a lot of new global flavors. Although Tex-Mex cuisine is relatively new in the city, it is a huge success in Kolkata’s culinary heart. The tex-mex madness received a whole new perspective when US based International Tex-Mex cuisine chain headquartered at Dallas, CHILI’S opened its first outlet in kolkata at Quest Mall. That was two years back. Over a span of two years this Tex-Mex chain has successfully opened 3 new outlets in the biggest of the malls in the heart of the city. The third sibling outlet of Chili’s found its home at the newly opened Acropolis Mall (Kasba-bypass connector in south Kolkata) last month (December 2015). It is the biggest of all the outlets in Kolkata and is located on the fourth storey of the mall.

The Vibrant Light Decor.

Chili’s has always been my favorite eatery. I place it very high on the recommendation list. The casual, relaxing ambiance accompanied by chilled out music and Vibrant decor just makes you feel welcomed at once. From Cheesy Nachos to Meaty Burgers, Fajitas, Quesadillas and Sizzling steaks, this casual dining restaurant just offers the best of the magically rhyming word, Tex-Mex. So, when I received an invitation from Chili’s to be a part of their new outlet launch at Acropolis Mall on 23rd of December, I did not even waste as much as a minute before signing up for it. Unlike its elder siblings this outlet is staggeringly spread over two floors, the first floor accommodates the table seating arrangements while the storey above has an extensive bar and lounge. It also provides an outdoor seating arrangement overlooking the blue Kolkata Skyline.

Exotic Tex-Mex food spread for bloggers.

Along with the old favorites like Fajitas, Sweet and Smokey Burger, Quesadillas, Chicken Wings, Classic Nachos, Southwestern Chicken pasta, the eccentric new additions to the menu includes Rice Fresh Mex Bowl, Baby Back Ribs, Craft Burgers to name a few. For all you people who are on a look out for some healthier eating options and prefer light eating, the extensive menu at Chili’s  has options like Half Grilled Chicken etc. Alongside the lip smacking, brilliant meat dishes, Chili’s now offers a phenomenal menu for all the Vegetarian  and vegans out there.

Our evening kick started with The Classic Cheesy Nachos and Veg Tripple Dipper served with three dips, followed by Fried chicken Wings, Half Grilled Chicken, Veg Quesadillas. The Moji-tea which is a non alcoholic, tea infused rendition of the classic Mojito demands a special mention. Among all the options present the watermelon and Peach Mojitea are treat to any parching throat.

What followed enticed our taste buds into sheer foodgasm! From the signature dish Fajita Trio to the decadent Southwestern Chicken Pasta (Thank you payel for recommending it the the first place!), Chicken Mexican Rice Bowl, Sweet and Smokey burger, the food spread was humongous. At the end of the day, the greatness of a meal is always concluded by its dessert. And boy, must I say Chili’s does not disappoint you there either! The Chocolate Chip Paradise Pie, this STELLAR creation is simply to die for. So if it comes down to naming a favorite, this would be it. All the other dishes were equally amazing but this house special dessert just scores the highest with me. It is a must-have-at least-once kind of dish. It gives you few uninterrupted minutes of sheer heaven!!

Positioned as a family restaurant the Chili’s is a premium seat of the best Tex-Mex cuisine in the city. The third outlet is a great addition to the growing Tex-Mex madness in Kolkata and its eclectic menu is all set to make history! It adds a whole new splendor to casual dining. I reiterate what I said previously, this place comes really high on the recommendation list.

I am not a fan of Chilli’s here. But, by reading your review and pictures of the food, it looks good to me. I will give it a try for sure, when in Kolkata. ….Keep up the good work. ..
